Review of Issues from Advisory Committee Meeting
Prior to this teleconference, all of the documents, which included changes suggested by the Advisory Committee, were sent out for review and comment by the COA. They were all approved as recommended by the Advisory Committee.

In addition, during the Advisory Committee meeting on December 4, 2004 there was a recommendation from several accredited agencies for the Pro Board to provide expiration dates on the Pro Board certificates and to remove expired names from the National Registry.  The agencies that brought this issue forward were the Fire Department Safety Officers Association, the International Association of Arson Investigators, and the International Code Council, all of which have recertification requirements and provide expiration dates on the agency’s certificate.  Most attendees concurred that the edition of the standard to which the candidate was certified should be placed on the Pro Board certificate and listed in the National Registry; but, there was no clear agreement for placing an expiration date on the Pro Board certificates or removing names from the National Registry.

The COA was split on whether the Pro Board should place expiration dates on the certificates.  They were, however, unanimous in their opinion that the standard edition should be provided on the Pro Board certificates and in the National Registry, and that names should not be removed from the National Registry for reasons other than fraud. A letter stating the COA's opinion has been forwarded to the Board of Directors.
