Pending New Accreditations

Commonwealth Ports Authority, Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Department requests to become a fully accredited agency from a delegated authority under Hawaii Department of Transportation to an accredited agency.  The Hawaii Department of Transportation has approved this request.  Delegation of Authority site visit for the Commonwealth Ports Authority, Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Department was conducted in October 2001.  Application for Accreditation, COA-1 and Accreditation Self-Study Document, COA-3 are being resubmitted as a result of a meeting between Stanley Torres, Kevin O’Connell, and Ken Elmore. Action Pending. SUBMISSION OF A PROCEDURES MANUAL IS STILL OUTSTANDING. NO ACTION TAKEN.

New Jersey Division of Fire Safety. NEW JERSEY HAS DECIDED NOT TO SEEK PRO BOARD ACCREDITATION. NO ACTION TAKEN.

State of Nevada – O’Connell (L)/  Application pending. NO ACTION

Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety - Preston (L)/Mohler - Application pending. NO ACTION.

Maine – Piechota (L)/Elmore – Application pending. NO ACTION

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service – Elmore (L)/Fox. NO ACTION


Pending Reaccreditations:

The following accredited agencies are scheduled for their five-year re-accreditations no action was taken on any as the site visits had not been conducted at the time of the teleconference:

  • Fort Monmouth Fire & Emergency Services
  • Montana Fire Service Academy
  • Texas - ESTI
  • Rhode Island Fire Academy
  • Kansas Fire and Rescue Training Institute


Extensions of Accreditations:

The following accredited agencies were granted extensions to certify to the standards and levels listed:

Delaware State Fire School is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector II with an approval date of January 1, 2005.  This request was tabled at the February 23, 2005 meeting pending additional information. MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY STURTEVANT TO EXTEND DELAWARE’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1031 FIRE INSPECTOR II WITH A JANUARY 1, 2005 APPROVAL DATE. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

Massachusetts Fire Training Council is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor II, 2002 Edition. MOTION BY JOOS, SECOND BY STURTEVANT TO EXTEND MASSACHUSETTS'S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1041 FIRE INSTRUCTOR II, 2002 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute is requesting approval to offer Fire Officer I and Fire Officer II certification based on certification testing conducted by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP). MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY JOOS TO EXTEND TEEX’S REQUEST TO OFFER FIRE OFFICER I AND II CERTIFICATIONS BASED ON TESTING CONDUCTED BY THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON FIRE PROTECTION (TCFP). UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

West Virginia University Fire Service Extension is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1081 all levels, 2001 Edition with an effective date of January 1, 2005. MOTION BY STURTEVANT, SECOND BY LUTHER TO EXTEND WEST VIRGINIA’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1081 ALL LEVELS, 2001 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

West Virginia University Fire Service Extension is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue; Surface Water Rescue; Vehicle and Machinery Rescue; and Confined Space Rescue, 2003 Edition with an effective date of January 1, 2005. MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY STURTEVANT TO EXTEND WEST VIRGINIA’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1006 ROPE RESCUE; SURFACE WATER RESCUE; VEHICLE AND MACHINERY RESCUE; AND CONFINED SPACE RESCUE, 2003 EDITION WITH AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 1, 2005. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

New Hampshire is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1051 Wildland Fire Fighter I & II, 2002 Edition. MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY STURTEVANT TO EXTEND NEW HAMPSHIRE’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1051 WILDLAND FIRE FIGHTER I & II, 2002 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.

Bucks County Community College, Public Safety Training Center is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply Apparatus, 2003 Edition. MOTION BY O’CONNELL, SECOND BY LUTHER TO EXTEND BUCKS COUNTY’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1002 DRIVER/OPERATOR MOBILE WATER SUPPLY APPARATUS, 2003 EDITION, CONDITIONAL UPON THE RECEIPT OF A RESPONSE REGARDING THE OMISSION OF CHAPTER 4 EXAM QUESTIONS. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.           

Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 472 HazMat Incident Command, 2002 Edition; NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator Pump, 2003 Edition; NFPA 1003 ARFF, 2000 Edition; NFPA 1021 Fire Officer III, 2003 Edition; and NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector II, 2003 Edition. MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY O’CONNELL TO EXTEND GREAT OAKS’ ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 472 HAZMAT INCIDENT COMMAND, 2002 EDITION; NFPA 1002 DRIVER/OPERATOR PUMP, 2003 EDITION; NFPA 1003 ARFF, 2000 EDITION; NFPA 1021 FIRE OFFICER III, 2003 EDITION; AND NFPA 1031, FIRE INSPECTOR II, 2003 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.           

SABIC is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I & II, 2002 Edition. MOTION BY LUTHER, SECOND BY STURTEVANT TO EXTEND SABIC’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1001 FIRE FIGHTER I & II, 2002 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.     

District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 472 Operational, 2002 Edition. MOTION BY JOOS, SECOND BY PEAL TO EXTEND DNV’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 472 OPERATIONAL, 2002 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.           

State of Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control is requesting approval to extend their accreditation to include NFPA 1003 Airport Fire Fighter, 2000 Edition. MOTION BY JOOS, SECOND BY COFFMAN TO EXTEND CONNECTICUT’S ACCREDITATION TO INCLUDE NFPA 1003 AIRPORT FIRE FIGHTER, 2000 EDITION. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.
