I know most of you have talked with Michelle Reade on the phone.  Some of you may have met her at the ProBoard conference in 2003. I had the pleasure of working with her at NFPA headquarters, getting the national registry ready for the web interface.

Michelle is competent, dedicated, and represents the ProBoard well in all that she does for us.

In order to get to know Michelle a little better and get some insights into Michelle’s contribution to the ProBoard, I emailed her a few questions and here are her responses:

How long have you been working with the ProBoard? (KO)

I have been working with the ProBoard for a little over 3 years. (Michelle)

Did you work at NFPA before that, or was your assignment with the ProBoard your initial assignment at NFPA?

Initially I started with NFPA as a Technical Secretary in the Public Fire Protection division working for two staff liaisons.  When Dana Gallant, the previous Certification Coordinator became pregnant, I started helping out with the ProBoard working overtime keeping the records up to date.  When Dana gave her notice, I jumped right on board.

What percentage of your time at NFPA is spent on ProBoard related issues?

In all honesty 95% of my time is spent on Pro Board issues.  There is always something going on with the ProBoard.

What are your areas of responsibility with the ProBoard?

I continue to maintain the Pro Board National Registry database by inputting thousands of records. I emboss, and mail out the certificates to individuals as well as to agencies.

I help agencies get established in submitting electronic files.  I also clean up, clone, and merge electronic files submitted by agencies.

I prepare checks, deposits, and make bi-monthly Pro Board deposits.

I maintain Dave Trebisacci’s travel and work schedule, coordinate travel and meetings, arrange for conference calls, arrange meeting and hotel rooms for The ProBoard’s Board of Directors and the ProBoard Advisory Committee.

In addition, I take care of anything else that needs to be taken care of.

You seem to enjoy your job.  Do you?

Not many people can say they love their job, but I really do!  I work with a great bunch of people.  It can get pretty hectic but I love the fast paced environment.

What is the wildest request you have received with regard to ProBoard issues?

I get frequent requests to include a nickname on an individual's certificate.  They are not always the most complimentary nicknames either!

How do you spend time away from work? Family? Hobbies? Dog’s name?

I am happily married to Tom for almost 2 years, March 22nd. I have one 14 year old daughter, Betsey.

Hobbies: Shopping, shopping, and more shopping.

I also love to cook. I am an amazing cook, if I do say so myself.  I love camping, hiking, golfing, spending time with my family.

I have also just started volunteering with the American Cancer Society, which is a great experience.

Unfortunately we don’t have a dog.  We are currently on our third hamster, Patches.

Does David Trebisacci really insist that you call him Mr T.?

Not at all.  Mr. T, Trebbi, or my all time fav The Trebinator is a great guy to work for.

On behalf of all of the people who regularly or intermittently seek your assistance, thank you for all that you do for the ProBoard.
