Welcome to ProBoard Progress the ProBoard’s electronic newsletter. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to address you in this new medium. I look forward to seeing it evolve into a forum of ideas and information that is helpful, timely and that you look forward to receiving.

The ProBoard now includes thirty-nine Accredited Agencies that test and certify to almost every ProQual standard and level. We are currently issuing over 20,000 national certificates annually and continue to seek new partners in the certification of fire service professionals.  This success is due to many factors, but you, the Accredited Agencies, are the nucleus of the system and the key to its success. 

The ProBoard has long recognized the need to keep the Accredited Agencies informed about issues and operations that affect them and those they serve.  To that end, there have been several initiatives that have enhanced communication and dissemination of information; the inclusion of an Advisory Committee member on the Board of Directors, the ProBoard web site, hiring Ken Elmore as a full time accreditation manager, and the accessibility of David Trebisacci and Michelle Reade at NFPA for registry information. 

Although these have proven quite effective, due to our growth and the need to keep you even better informed, the Board of Directors has decided to leverage technology and regularly publish an electronic newsletter.  It will include reports from or about; the Board of Directors, the Committee on Accreditation, and the Advisory Committee.  In addition, information will be forthcoming from our support staff; Dave Trebisacci at NFPA, Ken Elmore the Accreditation Manager and Kevin O’Connell who will publish the newsletter.

As sharing of information has always been a positive attribute of the ProBoard’s Accredited Agencies, we hope to capitalize on that spirit in the newsletter.   Your feedback is not only welcome it is needed.  Your cooperation, when solicited, is appreciated.  Your support is valued.

Thank you for the quality work you all do for the ProBoard and especially for the fire service professionals who are your constituents and the reason the ProBoard exists.  We look forward to assisting you in that mission with this new venture.
