The untimely passing of Johnny Wilson on Sunday August 15, 2004 was a shock to all who knew him.  He was a well-respected member of the Georgia fire service community and the National Professional Qualifications System. He was also a friend.

Below are some of the words written or spoken about Johnny in the days that followed his untimely death:
Johnny was a true leader in the advancement of Fire Service Professional Qualifications not only in Georgia but nationally... In every capacity Johnny served with dignity, professionalism, and as a true gentleman, always acting in the best interest of our nation’s fire service.
M. H. Jim Estepp
Mimi and I are deeply saddened by the loss of this generous and warm hearted man who gave so much to the fire service and to the professional qualifications movement.  He will be sorely missed.
Tony O'Neill
On August 19, 2004, Kevin O’Connell, Liz Summers, and I attended the funeral for Johnny G. Wilson.  Over 500 people attended the service at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center auditorium which was a great tribute to a wonderful man.  Johnny was 53 years of age and will be greatly missed by the Pro Board.
Ken Elmore
Johnny really enjoyed seeing you all, and would talk about you when he came home. I was proud of Johnny for the work he did with you.
